Improving your sleeping habits!

Most people experience a problem with their sleep at some point in their life and actually, it's thought that as many as a third of people in Britain will have episodes of insomnia at some point. As an adult we need around 7 – 9 hours of  sleep per day, although everyone is different.

The most common causes of disturbed sleep can be…

  • stress, anxiety or depression

  • noise

  • a room that's too hot or cold

  • uncomfortable beds

  • alcohol, caffeine or nicotine

  • jet lag

  • shift work

  • Illness

 

Problems sleeping can really negatively affect so many other areas of our lives. You likely have insomnia if you find it hard to go to sleep, wake up several times during the night, lie awake at night, wake up early and cannot go back to sleep, feel tired and irritable or struggle to concentrate during the day.
